Do you have set floor plans?

We do not offer set plans as we only build custom homes. Once we build a home for a client, that plan is entirely theirs. We can put you in touch with architects who will design your dream home! And if you have a favorite McCollum home that we have done, then that can be a starting point for the architect.

Do you have any lots available?

We have a great one: 12127 Broken Bough Drive in the highly sought-after Memorial Forest neighborhood! Or we can recommend a reputable realtor to help you select a lot that meets your requirements.


How long has McCollum Custom Homes been in business?

McCollum Custom Homes has been in business in the Memorial, Spring Valley, River Oaks, Tanglewood, West University and other Houston surrounding neighborhoods for 16 years.


Does McCollum Custom Homes offer financing?

McCollum Custom Homes does not provide financing, but there are many bankers we recommend, and will help you through the loan process once you have selected your institution.


Do you have in house architects?

We have a curated list of talented architects we can recommend as part of the extended team or we are happy to work with your architect.

Do you have in-house designers?

We have a list of talented designers we can recommend as part of the extended team or we are happy to work with your designer. We also have relationships with excellent vendor who help streamline the selection process for materials (counters, tile flooring, hardware, plumbing, lighting, etc).

 

Does the price of a house ever go up after the contract is signed?

We do a comprehensive budget so we will build your home for the contract price. Some items in the budget are listed as allowances. So, the cost only goes up if you make changes to the plans or go over your allowance budget.

  1. Allowance are put in the budget for items that you will select during the construction process; like flooring, counters, hardware, lights and plumbing to name a few.

 

  1. Do you carry insurance?

  1. Yes, McCollum Custom Homes carries General Liability Insurance as well as Builders Risk on each project.

  1. What is the typical construction Time Frame?

  1. On average for a 5000sq ft home we say one year from the time we pour the foundation. That is with all decisions made in a timely manner. Please note: if all decisions are made before we begin construction, that time can be less!

 

  1. What is the price per Square Foot?

  1. We base all of our bids on the specifications and selections from the architect, designer and homeowner. Once we evaluate that information we can move forward with pricing.

 

  1. Do you offer a warranties?

  1. McCollum purchases a standard ACES warranty for all our projects. The HVAC company registers and sends warranty information as soon as you move in. Appliances all come with standard manufacturers’ warranties.
