Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical time frame for construction projects?
On average for a 5000 square-foot home we estimate 12 to 14 months from the time we pour the foundation. That time is dependent on all decisions being made in a timely manner. Please note: if all decisions are made before we begin construction, your completion time may be shorter!
What is the price per square foot?
We base all our bids on the specifications and selections from the architect, designer and homeowner, so once we evaluate that information, we can move forward with a cost proposal.
Does McCollum Custom Homes do remodel projects?
Yes. Once you have your scope of work and plans, we can meet to discuss and create a bid.

Does McCollum have floor plans available?
We do not offer floor plans as we only build custom homes. Once we build a home for a client, that plan is entirely theirs. We can put you in touch with architects who will design your dream home! If you have a favorite home McCollum has previously built, that can be a starting point for the architect.
Does McCollum have any residential lots available?
We currently do not have any lots for sale. We do frequently hear about lots residents are about to put on the market. So, if you give us your parameters we can let you know if we hear of something that might work for you. Or we can recommend a reputable realtor to help you select a lot that meets your requirements.

Does the price of a house ever go up after the contract is signed?
We do a comprehensive budget so we will build your home for the contract price. Some items in the budget are listed as allowances. So, the cost only goes up if you make changes to the plans or go over your allowance budget.
What are allowances?
Allowances are put in the budget for items that you will select during the construction process, such as flooring, counters, hardware, lights and plumbing to name a few.
